Junior Software Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: 60K + Bonus + Benefits
We’re looking for a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join a London-based specialist insurer and reinsurer focused on high-risk, high-capacity commercial insurance and reinsurance solutions.
Their core platforms are built using the latest versions of .NET, Angular, and SQL Server, and you’ll gain exposure to modern engineering practices in a real-world, business-critical environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Monitoring the Ignite platform, investigating issues, performing root-cause analysis, and delivering robust fixes
• Supporting the design and development of new features and modules using .NET Core and Angular
• Writing, optimising, and maintaining SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and schema changes
• Taking part in peer code reviews and writing unit tests to maintain high engineering standards
• Maintaining clear technical documentation, including APIs and database structures
• Collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
What We’re Looking For
Core skills and experience:
• C# and .NET Core / .NET Framework
• Angular (TypeScript, HTML, CSS/SCSS)
• Strong understanding of relational databases and T-SQL (SQL Server)
• Version control experience with Git / Bitbucket
• Experience building and consuming REST and SOAP APIs (XML / JSON)
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and tooling
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies
• Understanding of development practices such as TDD, DevOps, and modern testing approaches
You’ll also bring:
• A logical, persistent approach to troubleshooting
• The ability to turn user stories and requirements into working solutions
• Confidence working with cross-functional teams and competing priorities
• Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Curiosity, self-motivation, and a desire to continuously improve as an engineer
Experience within Lloyd’s of London, General Insurance, or Financial Services is highly desirable.
